Howdy! 👋
Here are 5 things I wanted to share with you this week.
🥁 Sylvan Esso + Full Band
Sylvan Esso is normally a 2 member Vocalist + Producer group. Their live sets with the two of them are excellent, but they recently released a performance video with a full cadre of musicians that I found especially enjoyable.
😎 Cheap Polarized Sunglasses
I’ve always had issues with losing sunglasses. For a while I tried buying real Ray-Bans thinking that I’d be less likely to lose something worth more… I was wrong. After searching around a bit I found these Grey Jack Aviators. They’re big enough for my giant head, they’re polarized, they come with a semi-hard case, and best of all… they’re cheap (~$15)!
I now have a couple of pairs around and replace them quickly when I inevitably lose or break them.
👂🏻 My Preferred Podcast App
I swing back and forth with my long-form audio time. For months I’ll listen to audiobooks and then I’ll switch to podcasts. Currently, I’m in podcast mode. My app of choice for my podcasts is Overcast. Primarily because of their amazing Smart Speed feature. This isn’t the standard speed-up feature that most audiobook/podcast apps have. This feature will take the silent parts of a podcast and speed them up. That time adds up! Here’s what my app tells me:
The downside for me is no Alexa integration, but that’s because the developer is so big on privacy.
💨 House Air Filter Subscription
I used to have the hardest time remembering to replace my air filters in our house. We need to do it regularly in our old dusty place. I was more than happy to sign up for this air filter delivery subscription from Second Nature when I found out about it. They even have the weird sizes that we use. I’ve been using them for a couple of years now and have no complaints. The link is a referral link so we both get a discount if you sign up.
🐶 Old Dog
“You have probably heard the saying that you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Actually, there is another saying that is probably more accurate, but is not quite as well known: 'The quickest way to become an old dog is to quit learning new tricks.”
